Cassidy Friedman directs and produces character-driven documentaries that call attention to unsung social justice pioneers of our time. Cassidy recently produced the feature documentary Voices Beyond the Wall: Twelve Love Poems from the Murder Capital of the World, with Executive Producer James Franco, which had its world premiere at the Miami International Film Festival and received a glowing review in The Hollywood Reporter.
Since founding his production company, Stories Matter Media, he has directed a score of documentary shorts, including Unstill Life, an Official Selection of the 2014 Long Island International Film Expo and The SoCal Creative & Innovative Film Festival.
Cassidy is directing the feature documentaries, Circles, which tracks a pioneer of the Restorative Justice movement in Oakland schools, and Soledad (in post-production) with producers Van Jones and Glen Zipper, which follows three men seeking a second chance as the nation explores reforming its prison system.
Cassidy first established himself as a story-teller while working as an award-winning news reporter for over ten years (including receiving the Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2009).
